Meals on Wheels
Rochester Community PTA Council will again be involved in the Meals on Wheels Program through the OPC. This is a wonderful and rewarding experience for all who participate. The Rochester Schools continue to be assigned the Wednesday route covering Crooks Road and Hamlin Road (Route #9). All the schools will work as a team through PTA Council to cover the calendar year. With all the schools involved, your school will provide delivery service 2-3 times a year.
How does it work?
Each school is scheduled a particular Wednesday to deliver meals.
Each school will seek individuals who are interested in participating in this program. You will then sign them up for your school's designated days.
Please notify Committee Chair Tracy Gruber of the names and phone numbers of the drivers. (OPC requires phone numbers to contact the drivers to remind them of their dates. OPC does not use email.)
OPC will call the volunteers the Monday before their delivery date to remind them and answer any questions.
On their assigned day, volunteers will:
Arrive at the OPC at 11:15am. Follow the signs to the Meals on Wheels parking lot in the back of the building.
Receive 2 coolers with 5-10 meals to be delivered and a map of the route.
Deliver the meals using their own vehicle.
Return the coolers to OPC.
(This process will take about an hour.)
Please note that there are dates that fall during school breaks and during the summer. Some people have enjoyed taking their children with them to deliver meals. The seniors especially enjoy seeing the children, so consider signing up for these dates if you would like them to join you.
If you have any questions, please contact Meals on Wheels Committee Chair Tracy Gruber.
