Founders Day

What is Founders Day?

Founders Day is a reminder of the substantial role that PTA plays locally, regionally, and nationally in supporting parent and teacher collaboration and working on behalf of all children and families. It's a time to reflect and take pride in our many accomplishments, and to renew our commitment to be a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for parents, and a strong advocate for public education.

How do we celebrate in Rochester Community Schools?

The PTA Council Founders Day Committee, which includes representatives from all 20 RCS schools, hosts a Founders Day Celebration with basket raffle or auction. Each school recognizes three volunteers. Individuals are also nominated for district level awards: John Schultz Leadership Award, Distinguished Service Award, ACORN Award, and Council Member of the Year Award. An individual or a group can also be nominated for the Bright Ideas Award.

Each PTA/PTSA unit from each school in the district provides: 2 baskets for the raffle/auction, a representative for the District Founders Day Committee, and two volunteers to help with the event set up and tear down.

Where do the proceeds go?

Proceeds from the raffle/auction support PTA Council Enrichments and Scholarships.

When does the committee meet?

The commitee, consisting of representatives from each of the PTA/PTSA units, meets once a month.
